Exploring Cumbria’s Black History Through Poetry

29/10/2016, 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

- Free

Part of our Associated Events Programme

Black and minority ethnic people have had connections with Cumbria since the 3rd century, working and contributing equally to the economy, culture and heritage of Cumbria.

The writings of the Wordsworths are run through with references to race, ethnicity and social justice.

Together with The Wordsworth Trust and AWAZ Cumbria, Tullie House is marking Black History Month with a day of reflective responses from local community poetry groups. We hope that you will be able to join us and share in the conversation about issues as topical and urgent today as they were in the early 1800s.
