One of our main commissions Here, Today returns to Tullie House as part of the final exhibition for CELEBRATE, a 2-year project exploring the LGBT History of Cumbria.
Featuring well-known events and individuals, such as best-selling author Sir Hugh Walpole and artist Percy Kelly, as well as stories of everyday people and their friends and family, the exhibition showcasing the previously undiscovered living history of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Trans (LGBT) people in Cumbria.
Those stories will be brought to life through audio recordings of interviews collected through the project, and a series of photographs by artist Colin Tennant – who has worked a group of LGBT people over 50 in the last 10 months to document their everyday life and to explore issues around age, gender and sexuality in a rural region.
The exhibition is a result of a two-year Heritage Lottery Funded project in partnerships between OutREACH Cumbria and Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery.
Symposium, Saturday 1st October 10am – 4.30pm
