The first reading of writing created by participants in our West Lakes Writing Workshops and Pascale Petit – the writer in residence, we will be joined by locally-based poet Neil Curry, who is also an expert on Norman Nicholson. Neil will read some of Nicholson’s poems as well as his own.
Inspired by the richness of Cumbria’s literature traditions, Elements host a 2-month writer in residence project in partnership with Age UK West Cumbria, Florence Arts Centre and the Wordsworth Trust. For its first year, we have invited renowned poet Pascale Petit to work with a group of 60+ residents in Copeland.
After 7 weeks of workshops and day trips with Pascale, as well as writers and experts on William & Dorothy Wordsworth, Norman Nicholson, Percy Kelly, Sir Hugh Walpole and Alfred Wainwright, the work created by the participants is presented at a series of five reading events in Whitehaven, Egremont, Millom, Grasmere and Keswick during the festival.
