A photo essay on age, gender and sexuality in a rural region

Between November 2015 and May 2016, artist photographer Colin Tennant documented lives of some older LGBT people in different parts of Cumbria.

A small selection of images was shown outdoor in the garden of Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery between 13th and 26th of June 2016, and then in the new Community Wildlife Garden in Florence Arts Centre, Egremont between 4th of July and 14th of August, while the full series were included in the CELEBRATE exhibition (10.09 – 31.10.2016) and Elements festival.

Colin Tennant is a documentary and fine art photographer. He graduated from the fine art photography department of Glasgow School of Art in 2007. Since then his work has been exhibited in galleries in the UK and abroad, including the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, Getty Images Gallery in London and Exit Art in New York. He has work in both private and public collections in the UK.
